10 Things I Cut off my Spending List for 30 Days
Now, let’s be real, we all love a good splurge here and there, but sometimes, our impulsiveness gets the best of us, and before we know it, we end up spending way more than we intended to. Trust me, I’ve been there. That’s why, for 30 days, I decided to cut off certain things from my spending list to break up with the “I must-have-it-now” attitude and start prioritizing my expenses. And today, I am going to share with you the ten things I stopped spending on.
1. Going out to eat
To be more mindful of my spending habits, I decided to eat at home for 30 days. Not only did it save me money (at least $500), but it also allowed me to cook more and experiment with new recipes. It was also a lot healthier than going out to eat.
2. Online shopping
It’s so easy to get caught up in an online shopping spree, especially for the latest fashion trends. So, instead of impulsively buying clothes or other items, I made a list of what I needed and was more purposeful with my purchases.
3. Coffee
A daily dose of caffeine, but hitting up your nearest coffee or boba shop can quickly add up. So, making your coffee at home saves a lot and you can treat yourself to a coffee shop drink once a week.
4. Nail salon visits
Although I love getting my nails done, I realized that I do not need to go every month. Doing your own manicure at home can cut back on your appointments.
5. Vacation planning
Instead of booking an expensive holiday, going on a staycation, exploring your city’s local attractions, and finding free activities to participate in can be great!
6. Dine-in movies
Going to the cinema can be costly, especially when you add in food and drinks. Start by streaming movies online and hosting small movie nights at home.
7. Gym membership
I realized that I wasn’t getting my money’s worth from my gym membership, so instead of renewing it, I started working out at home and doing outdoor activities.
8. Monthly subscriptions
Take a look at your monthly subscriptions and cancel ones that you do not use frequently.
9. Impulsive purchases
We’ve all been guilty of buying things without giving it a second thought. To avoid doing this, taking 24 hours to think before making any significant purchases can be helpful to really think about if you need the item.
10. Buying expensive make up
Rather than spending so much on name brand makeup products, getting the cheaper items are beneficial and can look just as great!
Breaking up with the “I must-have-it-now” attitude can be challenging, but it’s possible with a little bit of discipline and creativity. Starting with the ten things I stopped spending on helped to become more mindful of my spending habits. It allowed me to prioritize my expenses, save a bit more, and appreciate the little things in life. So, give it a try, you might be surprised by how much money you could save just by cutting out a few things from your spending list.
